Oliver + S Ice Cream Dress

I've had this pattern sitting on my kitchen island for a good 2-3 weeks now.  I had the fabric ready to go too.  I just couldn't get myself to start on it.  I love the look of the dress it is adorable.  I've swooned over the pattern for a good 3 months before buying it.  Yesterday I finally forced myself to get to it.  When I laid out the purple material I found I didn't have enough to cut 4 of the bottom tier but it is a thicker fabric anyway so 2 was all it needed.
The purple is a cute pique I got from Hancock a while back. The pink is a "Woven 1/4" Daisy Gingham Pink" from Fabric.com (DV-509 to be exact) and is a 80% polyester and 20% cotton blend.  It is cute and light for summer.
The pattern was crazy strange to me.  I guess I'm just so used to the McCall's, Vogue's and Simplicity's.  I don't really care for the paper pattern, I much prefer the tissue paper but it was workable.  The directions threw me for a loop many times and thankfully there were pictures to help me along the way.  The Yolk was nuts!  and putting it on the dress was not my idea of fun.  After struggling through the steps I finally got the thing assembled.  I love the dress.  I think it may be a little too snug on the yolk for Miss K in a 7 so next time it will be in an 8.  Now that I got the idea of the steps it won't be as hard to make another one; it is just the cutest thing!  We took a trip to the library, ice cream shop, and strolled along the city streets.  It was a fun day.
