Me Made May ~ Week 5

Whew. The end has arrived.  To say I'm glad is an understatement!  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed participating and I learned a lot. The problem was the daily pictures. Exhausting!  I'm a person that stays out of the lime light. ;-)

Monday, May 26th; 85°F
Shorts: Dockers

Tuesday, May 27th; 82°F
Pants: Maurices

I was hoping to have a maxi dress completed by today to wear it, but time got away from me.

The most important thing I learned during Me Made May '14, is that actually wearing my makes tells me about the fit more than anything.  Spending the day in an item, moving around, and living in it, points out all the things I would change. More length, fix the shoulders, add width, make a smaller bust, etc.  I enjoyed learning all these things.  I actually got rid of 3 me mades this week because of the poor fit; however I am still happy with those patterns, I just know to make things different next time.

Needs: Tanks, s/s shirts, shorts, skirts, swim suit, zip-up fleece jacket.

How successful was your may? Did you learn anything about your makes?

  2. I'm going to get a post up today, but put it this way Kristin you did much much better with your documentation than me! I think I managed about. 5 photos. I will try harder next year, but taking photos wasn't really the point for me, I always want to learn what I should make next. And I did find that out! Well done on your first MMM, I'm so glad it was useful for you!

  3. First thing on my list for myself is a Burda tank. I just bought the summer issue of Burda too, so I hope I can get busy on my summer wardrobe needs (when I can sew again). I want to participate in this fun next May, I just need more stuff to do. I need to assess my needs. Maybe I should buy a little more clothing for my kids so I have time to make myself more. LOL It is hard trying to keep up with everyone's wardrobe needs, but I do love the challenge!

    1. It is hard to find time to sew it all! I think it is easier sewing for the kids, and faster too - which is why I gravitate toward sewing for them before myself. I can't wait to see what Burda tank you make! I love tanks in the summer.

  4. Oooh, love that tank in photo #1 - hadn't seen that before! I completely agree with you - I always have to remind myself to wear an item around for a while before I make final fitting adjustments for round 2.

  5. Congratulations on your MMM! It's always fun to see people's makes as they *really* wear them. Forcing yourself to wear them also makes it obvious which things just won't work. Maybe that makes it easier to get rid of them!

    1. Thanks Joy! I'm so glad it's over, lol. Waaaaay too many selfies for my taste. I do always wonder after seeing makes, if they get worn and what not so it was great to follow along with everyone. And it is so true; I had pieces I loved, but were uncomfortable to wear - so I finally parted with them, *sniff, sniff* ;-)
