I’m having issues with Bloglovin not showing my posts; and now my Open Live Writer is acting up again; oh and my photos are blurry too. Technology...... UGH.<br />
<br />
Way back when (<a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2019/01/upcoming-winter-plans.html" target="_blank">Jan 2019) I made winter sewing plans</a>. I’ve still been working on those plans. I have 4 of the 10 made and 2 more muslins in progress. Here are 2 things from those plans. <br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Patterns for Pirates – Boundless dress as a top</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBORGm4EcZYVrskpzZ2n2ruBNBtwMa-MhOKV5GAAMBHyTDl28ITQAjP4LizPWgaXKF5-VwxyiM8BN3AGokiUpT-6cdClHRupQjnPqJ7DxQylOWAFmpLsS7oWM1YsXwExv_5qZ9BocRUs/s1600/IMG_9010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBORGm4EcZYVrskpzZ2n2ruBNBtwMa-MhOKV5GAAMBHyTDl28ITQAjP4LizPWgaXKF5-VwxyiM8BN3AGokiUpT-6cdClHRupQjnPqJ7DxQylOWAFmpLsS7oWM1YsXwExv_5qZ9BocRUs/s640/IMG_9010.JPG" width="425" /></a></div>
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"></span></strong><br />
I made this back in Jan 2019 and haven’t gotten around to taking pictures. I was waiting for the pants to be finished to go with it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Size: Large, empire waist, 3/4 sleeves.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYVE1vr1FCaoWGySVnLQfGDUXuGuDMB6HGrKoOAjNnMBgcqVamJkw2GBS6HrBur5q_Pt7UM99pDvHReyyEigxrnOfJ5iMxmh1UzCvcL5_SJDKQzS5OwNqtaIsaX_o4FjbgtzCJush4SGk/s1600/IMG_9013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYVE1vr1FCaoWGySVnLQfGDUXuGuDMB6HGrKoOAjNnMBgcqVamJkw2GBS6HrBur5q_Pt7UM99pDvHReyyEigxrnOfJ5iMxmh1UzCvcL5_SJDKQzS5OwNqtaIsaX_o4FjbgtzCJush4SGk/s640/IMG_9013.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Alterations: 1/2” forward shoulder, raised back neck 5.5”, did 3/4” hem. for the bottom piece that is gathered I made a trapezoid shape. 26” across the top slanting to 29.5” at the bottom hem and 15” tall. On the inside I attach fold over elastic around the waist where the gathers are. I do this without stretching the elastic at all. This makes sure the gathers stay nice, do not stretch out, and the FOE is soft enough that it doesn’t irritate my skin like regular or clear elastic does (allergy to latex).<br />
<br />

Fabric: 2 yards black roses floral double brushed poly. purchased in dec 2016 from knitpop<br />

<br />
Thoughts: love love love. I love everything about this top.<br />
<br />
Future: no changes to make. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Greenstyle - Chelsea Yoga Pants</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
These pants were my hold up. I made a pair according to my measurements in January and they were waaaay to tight – like skin tight booty pants, and that is not a look I’m trying to achieve. So I put the booty pants aside and measured the pattern flat – which showed why they did not fit me. My measurements put me in an XL but the flat measurements showed I needed to make a 3XL.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
In March I made the 3xl size finally and they fit all sorts of weird. They were too high in the waist, the crotch felt weird, the waist was too big and the butt had issues. I put them aside and moved on for the time being.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Well, fast forward from March to July and now I’ve gained 20 lbs; so I put on the 3XL pants the other day…. and they fit. Fit just fine actually – I mean well enough to wear in public. ha! So here are my Chelsea pants to go with my above top – in the middle of July – oh and did I mention my pants are FLEECE lined! hahahahaha.<br />
<br />
We will start with the larger ones first (the second pair)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSFRW2iO_osx4bDbShXoCIKzCNpKjM4s2S-kQixRwQjhhMkqe4MV-k4U-4JnEQ9Ya37w1oFf3AJTSwy1Qb-T92hPRNdzEu4UNqr_RmPPY-kivHscNYBeBlWekPLyzszolmDu5kKbeGLw8/s1600/IMG_9032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1068" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSFRW2iO_osx4bDbShXoCIKzCNpKjM4s2S-kQixRwQjhhMkqe4MV-k4U-4JnEQ9Ya37w1oFf3AJTSwy1Qb-T92hPRNdzEu4UNqr_RmPPY-kivHscNYBeBlWekPLyzszolmDu5kKbeGLw8/s400/IMG_9032.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Size: 3xl, medium rise. <br />
<br />
Alterations: scooped butt curve by 1/2”, sloped more to the waist by taking in 1/4” at mid butt curve and then 3/8” at top of butt curve by waist. Added 1/4” to outer hip at waist, added 3/8” at outer hip curve – did this to compensate for the sloping of the curve at CB as well as the scooping.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrENhdOKgbOj0NSA_whtR65kWmm0dsoXjeLEJmwfP3XmqvtZ3xc3vWWtvLlvS3lCtxnlZCetvYlkvqyCRR6R7wUoFoTO7upk_RUG8kjH7qY0pYbXnLJjvXpVMhS-0BO5l5ylZK59QVt6E/s1600/IMG_9022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1068" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrENhdOKgbOj0NSA_whtR65kWmm0dsoXjeLEJmwfP3XmqvtZ3xc3vWWtvLlvS3lCtxnlZCetvYlkvqyCRR6R7wUoFoTO7upk_RUG8kjH7qY0pYbXnLJjvXpVMhS-0BO5l5ylZK59QVt6E/s400/IMG_9022.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Fabric: 1.5 yards “Black Sweatshirt fleece”, plush brushed fleece back, can be used for activewear. 4 way stretch. Purchased Feb 2018 from fashionfabricsclub for $3.94/yard. so $5.91 total. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcBintxloBZ_HrvzqwHqU2wAUo2zbCiPO5RIV1O89KbnDqcr5jXlHJe1jRRe-klObRoAA9rrXr2OSTiUai92U-47Z_HSuW2KTNVY-Pkdukyy1U4vNCxviqa2xRUKFvLy4vH_hGg7qlT6Q/s1600/IMG_9017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1068" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcBintxloBZ_HrvzqwHqU2wAUo2zbCiPO5RIV1O89KbnDqcr5jXlHJe1jRRe-klObRoAA9rrXr2OSTiUai92U-47Z_HSuW2KTNVY-Pkdukyy1U4vNCxviqa2xRUKFvLy4vH_hGg7qlT6Q/s400/IMG_9017.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Thoughts: I love the front seam on these. I love the flare. I’m glad they fit me now. I think the midrise is too high for my liking. I would like to lower the front rise by 1/2-3/4”<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPizhKQVR0D9_vY_UqKUjaXeC2-6tZW07iovM2sqE545kz6s5t49FogEaYe7yYA_TKpHlp0WFacWYpYt_zK76WeCZ7vExSFEIK5bSa5GZb1vKeUB93emIgWhHozIKqRMU1cyV7o2EByXQ/s1600/IMG_9015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1068" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPizhKQVR0D9_vY_UqKUjaXeC2-6tZW07iovM2sqE545kz6s5t49FogEaYe7yYA_TKpHlp0WFacWYpYt_zK76WeCZ7vExSFEIK5bSa5GZb1vKeUB93emIgWhHozIKqRMU1cyV7o2EByXQ/s400/IMG_9015.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Future: It will depend, if I lose weight I will try the 2xl size and go from there. I will do low rise from now on.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: medium;">Here are the weird fit pics from Mar before I gained weight. same pair of pants.</span> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNswsFHEpPOZjDLLwdWfhlEFyViOh47TkVMcJJKu4oCqy6rUczlv16QhkVvF43fi0zXil9qzWQiTWHHHTsp7KZMjSOnGvRjXRjjtL7JilEOSQx4NPgixFcFEHmoTi4tkLFWHyhlngDiOs/s1600/chelsea.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="595" data-original-width="598" height="397" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNswsFHEpPOZjDLLwdWfhlEFyViOh47TkVMcJJKu4oCqy6rUczlv16QhkVvF43fi0zXil9qzWQiTWHHHTsp7KZMjSOnGvRjXRjjtL7JilEOSQx4NPgixFcFEHmoTi4tkLFWHyhlngDiOs/s400/chelsea.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: medium;">OK now on to the 1st pair I made:</span> <br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
Size: Large at waist to XL hip and elsewhere. midrise. <br />
<br />
Alterations: scooped butt curve 1/2” added 1/8” to back leg inseam and 1/4” to front leg inseam. added 3/4” to hem. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Fabric: 1.25 yards Black nylon/lycra fleece-back knit from fabricmart fabrics. purchased in a mystery bundle May 2017. Cost $1.20 for the piece. 30% stretch selvage to selvage<br />
<br />
Thoughts: way too tight. skin tight. These instagram pics were the only ones I snapped of these pants and if they were skin tight in Jan, then there is no way I’m even getting a leg in one of these now!<br />

I have started taking better notes when sewing. I made myself a template and keep track of my measurements at the time, the date I start and finish an item, the size, alterations, and any notes. I seem to make a bunch of things and then take forever to get pictures of them – then take longer to write a blog post about them. So by the time I get to the post, I have forgotten a few details. Now with the templates I should be able to keep those details until I”m ready to write about them. <br />
<br />
In the past month I’ve referenced quite a few of my blog posts before sewing things – the whole reason I blog, to keep track for myself. <br />
<br />
First up today: <strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Patterns for Pirates – Essentials Tank</span></strong> <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1GEqUCLaZ6FdDdRn4J5WsuHKoUlBkYmsQ"><img alt="IMG_8934" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1bjnLHfsl-jamg0t1U6N0fqD1r9kSOf_H" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8934" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Made before: <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/04/tanks-shorts-top-leggings.html" target="_blank">Black with green plaid (apr2017</a>), <a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/06/sewing-for-miss-kpatterns-for-pirates.html" target="_blank">as well as 3 for Miss K (Pink: jan2017, teal: jun2017, & space dye: dec2016)</a><br />
<br />
My measurements at this time: 39 bust, 31.5 waist, 46 hip<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1s50CTSCy7iwgPNiERY2EAkUgKqEz3Hjf"><img alt="IMG_8938" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1f7UDrHsqu4FQfP7PcIIXBKseSvUQ-Dgs" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8938" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Started sewing: 06/12/19, finished sewing 06/12/19<br />
<br />
Size Sewn: L at bust/waist to XL at hip<br />
<br />
Alterations/Options: curved hem, racerback. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Mmcn6_NUAUDjBjysbCN9OAbw7Jrkundv"><img alt="IMG_8924" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Z93Sy7f-Di6Fe4W4IBrllkDM8s9C6eDU" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8924" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Fabric: Plain black double brushed poly. Where and when I picked it up is a guess because I have a few yards of black dbp. I think I got it in an auction box from Knitpop in June 2017. $3.70/yard – took 1 yard to make. 92% Poly 8% Spandex, 200gsm<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1a0g98BaoZppgKuaBCBgxTkNYYtAyshi3"><img alt="sas101" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1aYBEXdSshvlBolQCI5JKIsjYYbmYwCLU" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="sas101" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: simple top, easy and fast to sew. I like it a lot. I made it specifically to wear with <a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2019/05/sew-little-seam-movie-night-pjs-plus.html" target="_blank">these green floral capri leggings I made in May.</a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=14lYwF4yyDEI86IAJPMx6iaw0aiGBrXZr"><img alt="IMG_8915" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1lEpNgMfqf5wbsYcRZFKSk3G7aGQ44x4C" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8915" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
For future: Needs 1/2” more at the back hip. <br />
<br />

<strong><br /></strong>
Never made before. This was my test pair.<br />
<br />
My measurements at this time: 31.5 waist, 46 hip<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1UW961dPyattSnLKahPw8oG8Ti-rsObr3"><img alt="IMG_8951" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1WrwtNNjh-4dntXLSH2Qqi_w3nSJTti2m" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8951" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Started sewing: 06/12/19, finished sewing 07/01/19<br />
<br />
Size Sewn: XL waist to XXL hip<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1MxkT3Ht82rYqTtLb-b-_bMNtfTDr9crs"><img alt="IMG_8948" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1tyREdvGh7BijtQt4k_eLkKMaeaIlo2ji" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8948" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Alterations/Options: skinny leg option, cut it at the thigh end for the shorts. I added 1.5” elastic to the waist at 31.5” long. <br />
<br />
Fabric: Dark Turquoise Ponte Knit. purchased Aug 2016 from fashionfabricsclub for $3.95/yard. These used a little more than a yard. 50% Polyester 47% Rayon 3% Lycra<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1FtANcfHryv1hjCe5Jt2opAmFiZEq5Lrc"><img alt="IMG_8942" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=17nfSooWWk5DlowzQzlNnr_siZGzu7IL9" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8942" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: Not enough support in the knit fabric for front pockets at the waist area. Too tight in the butt, it pulls at the back pockets. Back pockets are too small. Generally they don’t look good and I don’t really like them. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1bEQwPCsLIq0sbFQZ5B5R2rlwB86mNDbc"><img alt="IMG_8941" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1jYLxE-Ovr9BeOmBXUxQ87a4vXptD4Pkq" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="IMG_8941" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
For future: I’m not sure I’ll ever make these again, but if I do I will leave off the front pockets, make the back pockets bigger, and add a bit of room to the thighs and crotch curve.Kristin at SunnySewing.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15445370690561159996noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5712973868701470983.post-10789141013556542172019-07-11T12:11:00.000-05:002019-07-11T12:11:00.221-05:00More of Jalie 3022 Yoga PantsProbably one of my most used patterns. Definitely one of my most worn pants throughout the years. I first sewed this pattern in Dec 2014 and I continue to sew it as my weight changes and the fabric wears out. (Currently I’ve gained a bit of weight as I’ve found a few more things to eat recently).<br />
Here are the seven pairs I made prior to these new 2 pairs (sewing these new ones brings my total up to using this pattern NINE times). 1. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2014/12/jalie-3022-and-another-renfrew.html">Black plain</a> 2. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2015/02/jalie-3024-and-jalie-3022-yoga-outfit.html">Hunter Green</a> 3. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2015/06/jalie-3022-shorts-and-pants.html">Green Shorts</a> 4. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2015/06/jalie-3022-shorts-and-pants.html">Teal Pants</a> 5. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2015/10/polo-shirts-and-yoga-pants.html">Black and White</a> 6. <a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2014/12/jalie-3022-and-another-renfrew.html">Black for Miss K</a> 7. <a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/03/sewing-with-plan-renfrew-and-jalie-yoga.html" target="_blank">Navy Cotton Lycra</a> <br />

Size: My measurements at this time (waist 32, hip 46) put me in a size W waist and BB hip. But these fit tight so I sized up to a Waist Z, Hip CC. That’s one up in the hip and 3 up in the waist. <br />
Alterations: curved the back crotch more at the lower butt by 1/2”. Added 1” to the Hem<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1vtmFs0gAieZmcX59U-v4OwKCTkUEn8ZH"><img alt="jalieyoga5" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1eO34s7I5PCvFAQoqLrERBVMZeBbiEa3v" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="jalieyoga5" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions: The instructions are fantastic. At this point in sewing them so much I rarely have to look at them, but I do glance from time to time – especially for the waistband part. Nothing is hard to sew though. <br />
<br />
Fabric: 2 yards Double Brushed Yoga Knit – Heavy (though it doesn’t feel heavy) from Knitpop for $9.50/yard so $19 total. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1k-9eoDC_qY2bYRXwsntd7d-7ouaICret"><img alt="jalieyoga6" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1jY7ikyi0uPyVP-phr3xu6OZed8Pa6HxJ" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="jalieyoga6" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: Love, love, love. I love everything about these. They are soft, they feel like I’m wearing pajamas. The fabric is amazing. These things are perfect. (These were sewn April 18th, 2019 and I’ve worn them a ton of times since).<br />
<br /> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QKCyPBcsyi0uU3Q0cIA-iVo3saxqg_7V"><img alt="jalieyoga7" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Q_W_DGv8kG8ctJYiYyBYkRW-YQGYGcOC" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="jalieyoga7" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Next time: Need to lower the center front rise by 1”. It sometimes bothers my stomach to have the waistband so high. <br />
<br />

<div align="center">
<strong><br /></strong></div>
Size: It’s hard to say because of my alterations below. I started with Waist Z and Hip CC but after my alterations this made the front hip increase by 0.25” and the back hip increase by 1.25”! The thigh measurements remained the same. My measurements at this time (waist 32, hip 46) put me in a size W waist and BB hip. But these fit tight so I sized up to a Waist Z, Hip CC. That’s one up in the hip and 3 up in the waist, and then did the alterations on top of this. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1MsBcwYKkD8Q_Mu8-knJdAS6CxXM7c9ya"><img alt="jalieyoga3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1s2AqrBLRvEcMe_Q_czz4CUGM7SeuS3je" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="jalieyoga3" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Alterations: I put my beloved Burda yoga pant pattern (<a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/12/purple-purple-and-puppy.html" target="_blank">11/2007 #122</a>) on top of the Jalie pattern and used the crotch curve and hip from the Burda for these. I also used 32” for the waistband elastic. <br />
Instructions: same as above (The instructions are fantastic. At this point in sewing them so much I rarely have to look at them, but I do glance from time to time – especially for the waistband part. Nothing is hard to sew though).<br />
<br />
Fabric: 2 yards Navy 4-way stretch Ponte (this stuff is heavy) from Knitpop; purchased in April 2017 for $5.10 per yard, so $10.20 total. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1bP1ndpgR0oc02ImZRAlIs-o9oos8Uib-"><img alt="jalieyoga2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Hl_g7_zxn8MMcKGxWsm62yWan9WdmGCZ" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="jalieyoga2" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: eh. I’m not really happy with my alterations – they make the pants feel weird. Also, the ponte is too heavy and the seams feel large, not comfortable. They are a bit loose on me too and this pattern is made to be tight fitting. The view from the backside is not a good one; I don’t think I’ll get much wear out of these. (These were sewn May 7th, 2019 and I attempted to wear them one time but couldn’t handle the scratchy feel of the ponte or seams). <br />
<br />
Not everything I sew is going to work out. I”m glad I tried this alteration, but I know now that it doesn’t work out. So into the wastebasket it goes!Kristin at SunnySewing.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15445370690561159996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5712973868701470983.post-50830914222336940222019-07-08T19:25:00.001-05:002019-07-08T20:01:58.899-05:00BurdaStyle 01/2017 #103 The Oversized Hoodie<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JLxhWu6-tVV08zkJFE4CCZG0PpMPQiiK"><img alt="burdasweat2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Lri7N6-xsTLLpdx_HvOT7hhkAdH2_ooE" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="burdasweat2" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
I read a few reviews on this hoodie before I made it. They all stated it was large and to size down. So I did and it still turned out way big. (This was made in April).<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1nwqpVK1DrjewdKop06zT5Ue0iA21F5Mo"><img alt="burdasweat3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=105G95EJC0L8r5GmzAaFKm56eOVRVqy0I" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="burdasweat3" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Size: My measurements at the time put me in size 42 bust/waist and 46 hip. I sewed up a size 40 bust/waist and 42 hip. This hoodie should be advertised as oversized. (I skipped the kangaroo front pocket because it went over my panel design). Before attaching the hood and hemband I tried it on and saw it was enormous so I took an extra 2" off each side. It still is very large.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1jWU1yPpf8GLBH99tgyCf3Skpn4yS0bKw"><img alt="burdasweat1" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1EiasBqrEJ9QZ6r5y7sl1xBmkqV_FU35q" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="burdasweat1" width="411" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions: I glanced at them here and there. They were ok for the most part. You need prior knowledge of how to put a hoodie together before tackling this project. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1xmnW6TqjgqQJSl4TdtPskEQn7tmc3rtW"><img alt="burdasweat4" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=16eOPTZrmCXdznpv-haD1lt_J1odSXdXM" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="burdasweat4" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Fabric: Charcoal cotton lycra; royal cotton lycra; and a Raccoon panel from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/WanderlustDesigns/" target="_blank">Wanderlust Designs.</a> <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1sQ7W7CRsCXhCzxH4IbZAREvhMqdDrVMt"><img alt="burdasweat5" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1DNB4wnOZpK2gRDKyeGHLxSK6oat12KxA" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="burdasweat5" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: I know it can be hard to tell in the pictures, but I feel like I'm drowning in it and it feels very frumpy. When a shirt matches my hips I lose my waist and it makes me look 2x larger than I am. I love the style of the pattern and my fabric choices, so I’m a bit sad it is too large. I cannot take any more off the sides because I will lose most of the design there. I don’t think I’ll attempt this pattern again. The good news is that I bought a bunch of these wildlife panels in a sale – so I think I have another raccoon for a different pattern. <strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Pattern: Made for Mermaids – Chloe Skirt (free pattern!)</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
A day back in May (May 16th) I was scrambling to find something to wear to Miss K’s softball game. It was HOT that day, in WI 80°f in May is HOT). I had nothing I wanted to wear in my closet. So I traced, cut, and sewed this skirt in 30 min. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1lG0BTBQeSyseS_95AmRdQE-haI4c8KIM"><img alt="m4mchloe4" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Jt7TL3Co5oqlehWYmXi4bd8KFyp3IrQK" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="m4mchloe4" width="285" /></a><br />
<br />
Size: Green with Indigo waist; Made fold over waistband and maxi length.<br />
My Measurements at that time: Waist 30, Hip 44-45, Height 5’7”<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1cI4n3gl6eUO6fN9orUBZa0CqC9Vy9p6h"><img alt="m4mchloe5" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1L9H7-VbxF09IQaOBuRGBOGrI9cX66Bgr" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="m4mchloe5" width="303" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions: I didn’t even read them. This is a simple skirt; Sew each side seam, attach the waist, hem. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1RRMyEK7cNCIy2WWXWjJKFXLu8O74kSun"><img alt="m4mchloe2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1LTq7oLQ0qycubv9P1S1AH1HfJFrL9PSO" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="m4mchloe2" width="304" /></a><br />
<br />
Fabric: Ivory/Smoke Grey Heather Jersey Knit purchased July 2017 from fashionfabricsclub for $3.95/yard. Used 2 yards. $7.90 total. Their description “Lightweight cotton and polyester knit fabric with an exceptionally soft, supple feel. 4 way stretch and recovery. Good drape. 75% Cotton 15% Polyester 10% Lycra” It’s soft and stretchy. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=13z9woRQgP4JjszMOXyn9YqClEnPoylGP"><img alt="m4mchloe3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1aF2Ui5pMP7Kpe4jdSmVfqFhqnYg0ZrJn" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="m4mchloe3" width="276" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: Quick sew. Love the simple look. The skirt is a bit large on top at waist. The waistband had to REALLY stretch to fit. Next time I would reduce the skirt waist (not the waistband) by 1/4” on the edges. I would also add 2” to the length next time as it was a bit shorter than I like. Otherwise it turned out great! It is also a great way to use up some fabric. I plan to make more. <br />
<br />

<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Pattern: Patterns for Pirates – Sweet Tee</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></strong>
During MeMadeMay I was trying to wear things in my closet and figure out why I didn’t wear other things. I have this skirt I made in 2015 that I love and I never wear it because I don’t have a good top for it. So on May 28th I decided to make a Patterns for Pirates - Sweet Tee to go with it. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1tyEVVqvRg0A-Wb5BjeZ4f4sVGx4vUZIS"><img alt="p4pswet1" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1orCR9EO1uIl96ShuF69mMh2oHRXFlP9d" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="p4pswet1" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
The skirt is wild enough so I made just a plain black tee. Also helpful because I can wear this tee with a few other things in my closet that needed a plain top. <br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ODj3_chiIFxImA4axDTJKuh69YEMyGoN"><img alt="p4pswet3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=10znFpWiWrQP4G2qP4nEcz5bsuG8j-2Px" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="p4pswet3" width="320" /></a></span></strong><br />
<strong><br /></strong>
Size: Large for bust/waist, sloped to XL at hip. I also did a 1/2” forward shoulder adjustment. <br />
My Measurements at that time: Bust 39, Waist 30, Hip 44-45<br />
Instructions: I didn’t read these because I’ve made this top before and it’s a simple, fast sew. <br />
Fabric: 1 yard lack Solid Double-Sided Brushed DTY Stretch Fabric from Stylish fabrics purchased in Sept 2016 for $6.50.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Ni7F768BXIW7yTARklimKFvzGY5fCX9f"><img alt="p4pswet2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1N2n8L6g4pfY2avLRQalqE_kqiIlvq5rE" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="p4pswet2" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: I’m not a huge fan of dolman tops, but with the right drapey fabric I tolerate it. I am super happy with this top and I’ve needed a plain black tee for so long. <br />
<br />

(32″ bust, 36″ hip) to 28 (50″ bust, 54″ hip).<br />
The pattern is FREE if you find the code in the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/sewalittleseam/">Sew a Little Seam Facebook group</a>!<br />
<br />
I made the top 12/14 Bust, 16/18 Waist and Hip<br />
I made the bottoms 16/18 Waist and 20 Hip<br />
My measurements at this time: 39 Bust, 32 Waist, 45 Hip<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1SE39anjdkmwzvAidEMHMK9oxquN8G7Vk"><img alt="sas3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Nigr7VHDTsDUzTTX9iG4_9cC0AFZblDV" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas3" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions: I didn’t look at them since this is an easy straight forward tee and legging type pant pattern. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><strong>For the Top:</strong></span><br />
I choose the scoop neck and did a 1/2” forward shoulder adjustment that is standard for me in every pattern. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><strong>For the Bottoms:</strong></span> <br />
I choose the yoga waist and pant cuffs. I ended up having to scoop the front crotch by 1/2” to get rid of a camel toe problem. <br />
<br />
After sewing the bottoms together the yoga waistband was too big so I added 1.5” elastic to it at 33” long. Also, the “yoga band” is really short in height? I’m not sure why but when you fold it over it’s only 1.5” in height. I’m used to a 3” or more yoga band AFTER being folded over. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1g-88lNCDQaioQa637AZ9xoLcEB7vS59V"><img alt="sas1" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19NH9K9yGgFZ1Ouxm2nStmF-VXHqUfo48" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas1" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
This pattern does NOT come in A0 copy shop format. I have become lazy and do not want to tape my pdf’s so I found a pretty cool way to make it A0 myself. I followed the steps on this blog “<a href="https://www.trissamarie.com/tmb/2018/8/23/how-to-convert-a-pdf-sewing-pattern-to-a-copy-shop-print-file" target="_blank">Sewing and Things</a>;” life-changing I tell you! Basically you convert the PDF to JPEG and then put them into PowerPoint and arrange them and save as the A0 size. Sounds complicated, but wasn’t. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1kMq_h_6WoSnYv1VxBUPYGM7k3B7My8GV"><img alt="sas2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_KdrIFD1dEXQEjTzsshMn5FCkT6rJHKr" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas2" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<strong>Issues with the Tee:</strong> The tee does not fit me well. I used some super gray knit fabric that I love and honestly I’m now quite sad the tee doesn’t fit right. The arms are way too tight on the bicep. There is something funky going on by the waist. The back is really wide which might be contributing to the waist issue. The shoulders keep trying to pull to the back so the shoulders are not lining up and I keep having to pull the shirt forward. It fits like a RTW shirt – which is annoying. But, I wanted to try the pattern. I won’t be making adjustments because I have other tees that fit better off the bat. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1V79KPLS1lZSWL82xrAq6aKxBnJ99rGTi"><img alt="sas4" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Gbn_e79wZAoUPNa2dePXj47a_4bFiDca" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas4" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<strong>However, the Bottoms:</strong> They fit amazingly. I love them! I didn’t even do any altering or scooping of the butt – I just made the pattern as is. I did put elastic in the yoga waist but that’s it! The leg cuffs fit nice – snug but not tight. The pants just feel amazing. I used double brushed poly to make them and it feels like I’m wearing nothing. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1MsT8vs7mqdJwO28U-aSVa9zFz8BfZ24A"><img alt="sas5" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1BM57PBBEJVJD-MS_qyv1_WmYSbsl5JxM" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas5" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: small;"><u>Future changes:</u></span></strong> make a different tee pattern. Seriously, this one has enough issues and I have plenty more tee patterns to use that fit better. <br />
Bottoms: add 1” to the back rise at center back and taper to 0” at side seams. I need a little more butt room when sitting. Add double to the yoga band height if using the yoga band and take about 2-3” off in width so it’s more snug. <br />
<br />
<strong>Fabric: Top:</strong> 1 yard Cotton Lycra from Spandex world (this stuff is amazing and soft) Light heather Gray, 92% Cotton 8% Spandex; $8/yard<br />
<strong>Pants</strong> 1.25 yards of double brushed poly. I think I got this in a knitpop scrap box but I’m not 100%<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Zpy3KsGkajKzH0AlaZkXPMT10IGkkPrX"><img alt="sas0" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1UfpTRntO-xsdOILXRcYGu9DQ9p_WOvKu" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas0" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
So after I made the blue pants I didn’t want to take them off. They are super comfy for lounging and so soft. My family got tired of seeing the blue floral so I made another pair in green floral. I only had about 3/4 a yard of this double brushed poly. I got this in a scrap pack at one time and hoarded it because I love the fabric, but can’t wear olive by my face. It just doesn’t look right. WELL, I put the olive on my lower half and I’ll make a black tank to go with it. Problem solved. <br />
<br />

<br />
So I only had 3/4 yard and I’m not a capri person. I decided to try them anyway. I’m still not a capri person. I hate how cuffs feel on my mid calf. I might chop these off to just above the knee and hem – not cuff. I don’t know yet, I’ll need to wear them a bit first.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1imeo8Kw7fA3pCgwDITEPQ3jhalygRfO1"><img alt="sas6" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1qCsecJlNtslF4zUky5DvvRrsm0dc5suh" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas6" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
I love how these look and fit so I”m sure more pairs are on the horizon. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1FOw8vuXJ1EcQm6dn77HvqjpNyU-Znd-S"><img alt="sas7" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1UWfE5t6n5Ct1zcGlPiR5qhyp5PcnLBgL" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="sas7" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Changes made to the capris: added 1” to back rise tapering to 0” at center front. scooped 1/2” out on pattern at front crotch curve to fix camel toe issue. Kept “yoga band” the same small height and added 1.5” elastic to the waist at 32” long. <br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><br /></strong></span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Movie Night Pj’s for Pets</strong></span><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=11zrrV309r2T1BIKmvLqHo-Z-H0fEJaMD"><img alt="pups1" border="0" height="439" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1EA6UnK3n3H6MA-_FYCZ1-pHd3xza8QXl" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="pups1" width="640" /></a></span></strong><br />
<br />
I always love sewing for my pups and so I had to try this free pattern for my 2 boys. <br />
I made them both with bands on the legs, no sleeves. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1i524zOv2da1gAXP2r9LnSoh8hccGgGgH"><img alt="pups5" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Ng4siVDWi_1W76lg5S4eyfe1DjuMM8SD" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="pups5" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
Bennie measured almost a straight 5 so that’s what I made him. <br />
Cheeto measured all over the place so I settled on 8 Neck, 10 Chest and Length and 9 Waist<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=17C3TA2aMiN4wsiFuJIym7ZjeJk84Dpiq"><img alt="pups3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1VcXIDCORV4e0ydubHh7I-_7FPhjBtlhc" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="pups3" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
I used 1 yard of my same gray cotton lycra as the tee above. It is from Spandex world; $8/yard<br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19gcugeBKe-aprF3_yfYYZsRcBbr1X7uD"><img alt="pups4" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1G1yyPkNsZys3KzE0CiUeLu1axZwXB4uZ" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="pups4" width="621" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions were good. I mostly followed them as written. The hem is my biggest issue with this pattern. The hem is quite curved on these tees; the pattern tells you to turn up ONE INCH on a curved hem…. sharply curved at the meeting of the front and back. I’m sorry that is just not happening. Fabric doesn’t distort that way. So I turned up 1/2” and struggled it into shape on those curves. Also, the leg bands were really tight on the leg/shoulder openings. I would add 1/2” to them next time. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1iUZwTOT5q_AYFHk4IzzczXhB1KSEUyb-"><img alt="pups2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_A36Ev2wKzM8sYXFE0cozdXSo7OTiMxe" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="pups2" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
Overall it’s a cute, fast pattern to sew up for your pup to match you. I think they fit pretty great (also, it is really hard to get good pictures of puppies)!Kristin at SunnySewing.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15445370690561159996noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5712973868701470983.post-36363375695977295122019-05-29T20:11:00.003-05:002019-05-29T20:11:45.831-05:00Jalie 3900 Charlotte Cardigan<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1spiiQFP9z_mam5x_dMZm1SYLiIkuFmYW"><img alt="3900_1_3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Tq4FUJusjfCq1C4BeSC1lqs6NsHAuoAy" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="3900_1_3" width="360" /></a><br />

<u>Pattern</u>: Classic jewel neck cardigan with long sleeve, hem and wrist bands.<br />
<ul>
<li>Buttons at the front are optional.
</li>
<li>View A hits at the hips and has pockets
</li>
<li>View B is a cropped version.</li>
</ul>

<br />
<u>Size:</u> 28 sizes including girls, women, and plus sizes<br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">I used View B, Cropped Cardigan. Size W<br /><span style="background-color: white;">My measurements at the time: 38 bust, 30 waist, 43 hip</span></span><br />

<u><br /></u>
<u>Alterations</u>: ½” Forward shoulder adjustment (which I need for every pattern). <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1I1w407NNutXx0vDCZ-DCjDlUMpks0IE3"><img alt="jaliecardi2" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=123lHY5rPD-jWy3LwwZJU36kyxjB2tXVN" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="jaliecardi2" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<u>Fabric Used:</u> A mystery remnant. It is a poly jersey/sweater knit type fabric. Textured on one side. It is stretchy, but stable. Cropped calls for 1 3/4 yards of fabric; I was able to cut mine out of 1 1/8 yards. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1nWIbYB9YT3zmmceGEeMrqsyXMYPY0asC"><img alt="jaliecardi3" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=18_pb6hzVEIHR-B4EttwZZeOR6t61AbM-" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="jaliecardi3" width="320" /></a><br /><u><br /></u><br />
<u>Instructions:</u> Easy to follow. I enjoy the pictures with each step as sometimes I get confused what a step is saying. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1s_X8bQPEmBPNBYNd816vcG4eE7H6yl7q"><img alt="jaliecardi4" border="0" height="480" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1WA3H3PzbJ0g7LkqcN4q3T1WQdqriEjcT" style="background-image: none; display: inline;" title="jaliecardi4" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<u>Thoughts:</u> I am super happy with the fit. It covers my chest perfectly. The arms are a great length. The shoulders fit well. I love the height of the cropped version. It is exactly what I needed in my wardrobe. <br />

1/2" forward shoulder adjustment which I do to all my patterns.<br />

<br />
<br />
Instructions: Well written, easy to follow for the most part. I was really confused with the welt pocket. At step 3 I found that I should only sew the long side so that I could get the pieces to turn for step 5 and 6.<br />
<br />

<br />
I was super excited when this came up in testing. The design is exactly what I was looking for. I have been wanting a pattern like this for years now. The style reminds me of all my 90s Columbia "wind" jackets.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRvfPMR2XVphCz3gwSc96U9iyUHHSWB0LoJ7zdzr_5jEMqR5xfSSl3q72wS9UAGsNfNHRLMGo2fo7e8wZh8ESyWE6OHCTsHMHq7ntQ8IWTiLLOYXFYhScZlOZ3WGt2Yj0mg27Bkhtpa9g/s1600/back+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRvfPMR2XVphCz3gwSc96U9iyUHHSWB0LoJ7zdzr_5jEMqR5xfSSl3q72wS9UAGsNfNHRLMGo2fo7e8wZh8ESyWE6OHCTsHMHq7ntQ8IWTiLLOYXFYhScZlOZ3WGt2Yj0mg27Bkhtpa9g/s640/back+3.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Fabric used: I only used 2 yards even though the pattern called for 2.75 yards<br />
I used Anti-Pill Fleece Fabric 61"-Peruvian Llamas from Joanns<br />
(Item #15597883 though I think it's gone now) I picked it up for $3.90/yard so this cost me $7.80 total.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Y7bgB_3C6NPaMDevtUyifDfnXtpUs_yO9Xts3wvBoGLZFkUztr-ZDAviNkM5ubgTp7n8cov98z-ZMQXZzFntGGZrCUmN7e7pXtNuCd4h3ir6xeEHfTC2vM5sSYhmnYkpaUNIkzBdVzE/s1600/20190114_134022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Y7bgB_3C6NPaMDevtUyifDfnXtpUs_yO9Xts3wvBoGLZFkUztr-ZDAviNkM5ubgTp7n8cov98z-ZMQXZzFntGGZrCUmN7e7pXtNuCd4h3ir6xeEHfTC2vM5sSYhmnYkpaUNIkzBdVzE/s640/20190114_134022.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Future changes: The hips aren’t wide enough even though I graded for my hip size. I would need an extra inch or two around the hips. I also would like the sleeves to be an inch longer. When I reach forward they are too short.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd8qIpQw9LK9mj2y-CVrm844RJCdsQEyiAoKrZcab4Cow4O263Ac3gUGJbeuNHleUIqtQxocttLQLr_VeLN1qxFVDh01yRShaqueTSAHfkRdGeP56gqj76r101CTeR6dVV-fpauiD53_A/s1600/20190114_123741.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd8qIpQw9LK9mj2y-CVrm844RJCdsQEyiAoKrZcab4Cow4O263Ac3gUGJbeuNHleUIqtQxocttLQLr_VeLN1qxFVDh01yRShaqueTSAHfkRdGeP56gqj76r101CTeR6dVV-fpauiD53_A/s640/20190114_123741.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Thoughts:<br />
I made this top with this fabric, with my 13 year old daughter in mind. I wanted to make it secretly for her and she is close enough to my size (T bust/waist to V hip). Well she loved it and wore it around home all week. It fits her perfectly even though it’s in my size. I can’t wait to make another for myself and everyone in my family! I have a few planned out for me already. I fully recommend this pattern. <br />

I wear me-made almost everyday now. I have finally reached a point where my closet is almost all stuff that I've sewn. The problem is I don't always go anywhere so I stay in pj's or lounge wear most days. Also, I spend a decent amount of days in bed so I don't really change those days. These things make it hard to document and fully do Me Made May; however, I'm still enjoying the process and learning things. Here is Week 3 - the week I usually fall off on posting daily wears and this year was no exception.</div>

I spent 2 days in bed then pushed myself up and out of it to trace and prepare 6 sewing patterns. After that I took a long hot bath and threw on this <a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/09/summer-dresses-brazi-and-agnes.html" target="_blank">Halla Agnes that I wear for bed (made in Sept 2017)</a>. It is so easy and comfortable to just throw on. Watched the super disappointing Game of Thrones finale and then was up all night with a sick Miss K. </div>

~ Happy Sewing! ~ Kristin ~Kristin at SunnySewing.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15445370690561159996noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5712973868701470983.post-7255773672701426092019-03-27T19:33:00.000-05:002019-03-27T19:33:18.267-05:00An experiment in how jeans fit - a lesson learnedA short time ago I woke up one morning and did the usual, checked Facebook before even getting out of bed. I was quite shocked to find a screenshot off MY blog of MY Ginger Jeans posted by someone else. This person stated that she couldn’t understand why I was so happy with the fit and that they fit terrible. Some people in the group proceeded to pick apart all the things wrong with my body and my fit.<br />
<br />
Totally rude and unacceptable. I was shocked, hurt, and then angry as hell. How dare she belittle me and steal my photo. I typed up a comment stating it was my photo and asked her to take the post down; which she did – or an admin did, I don’t know. She never apologized and that is the reason I’m still stewing inside over it. It hurt, and it made me question my sewing, and my body. <br />
<br />
SO, I decided to do a little experiment. To prove to myself that sewing my own things is something I should continue. I have 4 pairs of pants in a collage below. 3 are ready to wear, store bought. 1 is self sewn. They all have their fit issues; the pants do, not my body. My body just needs the pants to be adjusted. Some look good in some areas, some in others; none are perfect. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A different layout to see the fit differences better<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbbjxS95kgc6M7GTpsXwP0jrWum2_XkK-VbvjfclW8OjL3HJhB62L_TW-0ZYJurRfs_LGwww9hAMUIIp4wSZ8JWejucXZVsT2U9WwJQL4vRl0QvceiFwHPgHpZhyphenhyphenNrQObHe2ULIQnY0eQ/s1600/pants+up+down.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="638" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbbjxS95kgc6M7GTpsXwP0jrWum2_XkK-VbvjfclW8OjL3HJhB62L_TW-0ZYJurRfs_LGwww9hAMUIIp4wSZ8JWejucXZVsT2U9WwJQL4vRl0QvceiFwHPgHpZhyphenhyphenNrQObHe2ULIQnY0eQ/s640/pants+up+down.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Pair 1: Levi’s Curvy Bootcut; size 14. The waist actually fits pretty nice (shocking since store jeans <em><strong>never</strong></em> fit me in the waist). The jeans are thin and I feel like they look “bumpy” on my body because they are so thin. They are ok, the material is not soft like the rest, but it’s not scratchy either. slightly loose.<br />
<br />
Pair 2: Lee No Gap Waistband Curvy Fit Bootcut Jeans; size 16. The waist gaps even though it has a built in elastic part. The elastic waist part makes me feel itchy (allergic to latex and sensory issues). The fabric is nice, thicker, soft. I like how they look in the front and side. I can’t get past the waist. not loose, not tight, I like how they feel in snugness.<br />
<br />
Pair 3: Gap Curvy Flare; size 14. They no longer make these, they are my favorite RTW jeans. They feel nice when I wear them, but I constantly have to pull them up. I love the hip hugging and flare, the material is soft. After time they get really baggy in the butt and slightly baggy everywhere. <br />
<br />
Pair 4: Ginger Jeans, modified flare; size 12 waist and on the front pant size 14 hip, the back pant 18 hip. These feel the best on me, like they hug me just right. Are their still fit issues? sure. But I don’t really care to be honest. The material on these is so soft. snug and hugging.<br />
<br />
<br />
The people that I care about, my amazing sewing friends that follow my blog, <em>know</em> I struggle deeply with health issues. I have certain fit issues I just don't care to address - I put my energy into what I feel is important. <br />
<br />
So to the lady that put my body on blast without my permission – shame on you.<br />
<br />
And to everyone else, the real people that matter, I will continue sewing. I enjoy it even when it hurts, even when it sucks out all my energy. I love the hobby and I love the community. I love seeing all the things my sewing friends make!<br />
<br />
I learned quite a bit from this experience. We need to be less critical of our sewing makes. I am horribly critical when I make something; time for that to change. Ready to wear doesn’t fit perfectly either! Our sewing makes will almost always fit us better than anything store bought. And if they don't, well then we learn, change the pattern, and grow from it! It's still a fun experience. <br />
<br />
(Also, thank you so much <a href="http://sewingbyshirley.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Shirley </a>for being such a great friend to me that day; you were there for me when I most needed a friend). <br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Onward my sewing friends!</span><br />

<br />
Last May (2018) I was determined to make some nice fitting shorts. I watched a ton of <strike>Craftsy </strike>Bluprint classes on fitting, read more books, etc. I picked a simple pattern to start with, <a href="https://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/elastic-shorts-032012" target="_blank">Burda 03/2012 #114 Elastic Waist Shorts</a>. I even put this pattern in my <a href="https://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2018/03/spring-swap-2018.html" target="_blank">Spring SWAP for 2018</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLAwkHdYKKJEO9v-mz7gQZHwHa-NY-GyqoODEYsSef3H5tWj7huhLphbNzWQ2fmKwqz8hNpZFRfLsqoN8dEDAb5hkCKlxozgS3nvzdprzkgZv3Vbd_QOutnNYkXxQg3jSzHq2CY7rcObE/s1600/tech_114_large+line+drawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="456" data-original-width="475" height="383" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLAwkHdYKKJEO9v-mz7gQZHwHa-NY-GyqoODEYsSef3H5tWj7huhLphbNzWQ2fmKwqz8hNpZFRfLsqoN8dEDAb5hkCKlxozgS3nvzdprzkgZv3Vbd_QOutnNYkXxQg3jSzHq2CY7rcObE/s400/tech_114_large+line+drawing.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I did a tissue fitting before cutting out the muslin fabric. It helped me make a few changes (listed below). Nothing is hemmed on these, no waistband in; just a quick sew up in the needed places.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcgKdQKyUuIQKTUGUMWDYVwpJVaJ8FPPAFVJfp_S-JjiWVtgReWrFapRBvdSV7zWlChJjycJ8z5Nk7ZzyAPQBZWMGixFpBqntE_sOHiFScGJ3dJKZRr2weolJqMuXQ4yXX4ZF7f8EHC5U/s1600/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcgKdQKyUuIQKTUGUMWDYVwpJVaJ8FPPAFVJfp_S-JjiWVtgReWrFapRBvdSV7zWlChJjycJ8z5Nk7ZzyAPQBZWMGixFpBqntE_sOHiFScGJ3dJKZRr2weolJqMuXQ4yXX4ZF7f8EHC5U/s640/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
This pattern only goes to a 42 so I graded it out to a size 46. My pattern notes show I lowered the front rise by 1/4" added 1/2" to the width at Center Front and 1/2" to the front thigh.<br />
In the back I added 1/2" wedge to the center butt, rotating this to take out 1" of the bottom leg width. This created 3/4" addition to the top waist width so I took it out at the side seams of both the outer and inner. Whew, that sounds confusing but what it amounts to is a sort of full bust adjustment for my butt. A full butt adjustment!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZE4qTsnolNrYOmBJ33xpktaTJF5_OMjlITFq419Eqo4VR4_FpPJHy5Te6M18DtTcRf2wHkBUuQGCPNDcKcwh_wAgLZmx7eurp0jk6f4zsPdt1y5Oddp81vcZdX8Yb8fQKLIuXztwS1YI/s1600/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZE4qTsnolNrYOmBJ33xpktaTJF5_OMjlITFq419Eqo4VR4_FpPJHy5Te6M18DtTcRf2wHkBUuQGCPNDcKcwh_wAgLZmx7eurp0jk6f4zsPdt1y5Oddp81vcZdX8Yb8fQKLIuXztwS1YI/s640/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+2.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I think the fit turned out really great. There are a few tweaks they need here and there. Also, these shorts are super short for what I'm comfortable with but lengthening the legs would take away from the cute design of them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7n7e8GyptEgJDhGEDr7SFoWAvjUTNtB0jAU1AEPw4wxF0dpPIV1D6qStKyxXt73e_eHuv5ifG0GPpOeM2g0Q86tqyNJREP2zVU_rnUfL_PE-v9JT0iNkq5q5BMid5yleA_r4bZz9c-EU/s1600/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7n7e8GyptEgJDhGEDr7SFoWAvjUTNtB0jAU1AEPw4wxF0dpPIV1D6qStKyxXt73e_eHuv5ifG0GPpOeM2g0Q86tqyNJREP2zVU_rnUfL_PE-v9JT0iNkq5q5BMid5yleA_r4bZz9c-EU/s640/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+3.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
So after all that work I put them on hold and moved forward with something else.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0J7Gf-i_Qxjjmt3YcIY3E7kvVJVhm9YnL4t6qJ6d3vfVEvAc1lp_sVmtUYQ2q-nz4VbP4hwYVJF04dfvMWGa04N10QyjyLo4bwHfYzwosKK0R37P7ZLsa1rab5D9idM8vFPyZb6gfhjw/s1600/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1531" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0J7Gf-i_Qxjjmt3YcIY3E7kvVJVhm9YnL4t6qJ6d3vfVEvAc1lp_sVmtUYQ2q-nz4VbP4hwYVJF04dfvMWGa04N10QyjyLo4bwHfYzwosKK0R37P7ZLsa1rab5D9idM8vFPyZb6gfhjw/s640/e+may+2018+muslin+of+burda+03-2012-14+4.jpg" width="612" /></a></div>
<br />
I really wanted to make these out of some amazing linen blend fabric I have. I will make them soon I think. Finding these pictures made me want a pair. I will sew up a pair of these just to wear around the house and yard in summer, because I like the style, and darn it - shorts that fit me are hard to find!<br />
<br />

I made this Kimono robe in testing and forgot to post about it. <br />

<u>Fabric Used:</u> A mystery fabric. It is polyester, shiny on one side with striations in the fabric and matte on the other. It is soft and silky feeling. My sewing peers guessed it might be Polyester Dupioni. I’m not sure what it is, except that it’s slipper and polyester. I got it when Hancock was going out of business. I have 10 freaking yards of this stuff and it was only like $0.10/yard. lol. (Hancock label calls it "Dull satin").<br />

<u>Issues</u>: I didn’t have any issues in making this. I starched my slippery fabric and used glue stick to help hold hems and seams. I also used a bit of stabilizer when starting to sew my seams from an edge. This ripped off easily when I was done. It sewed together nicely.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaeWFxWhI9i8jdO7lKohILWdQZqiO91UeF0pQe_3SZ1vec-KHjVvjweAusT69kNOAhjFwBMg0YRGtM9caOIrWFqwl3Dvgc-kPdTKkRQf7fcRxuy3WLjvBa30ILgBi1dlNos5Wt25U_hrI/s1600/a+jan+2018+jalie+3889+kimono+robe+black+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaeWFxWhI9i8jdO7lKohILWdQZqiO91UeF0pQe_3SZ1vec-KHjVvjweAusT69kNOAhjFwBMg0YRGtM9caOIrWFqwl3Dvgc-kPdTKkRQf7fcRxuy3WLjvBa30ILgBi1dlNos5Wt25U_hrI/s640/a+jan+2018+jalie+3889+kimono+robe+black+2.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
In testing I found these issues, however, they may have been addressed and changed before the pattern released:<br />
<ul>
<li>Belt loops too long and wide. I would be more comfortabble with 3/4 the length of them and 1/2 the width. </li>
<li>The belt was too long – like 6 inches too long. </li>
<li>The neckband would be easier to sew on if it had marks to help align it better. </li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPuo_vpgtvZFc-128LWnkafUpW1lIDwXxLFOmLb1naT4MSbRYHVYYVcVsBwzl3l7AM3y7QVm47vLz4JG2vGOwN8oHkGGxaV13vC3wxBJWXSA_VAWmHxAypv4Nb54knffUFHb1nUyrsYhE/s1600/20180128_182918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPuo_vpgtvZFc-128LWnkafUpW1lIDwXxLFOmLb1naT4MSbRYHVYYVcVsBwzl3l7AM3y7QVm47vLz4JG2vGOwN8oHkGGxaV13vC3wxBJWXSA_VAWmHxAypv4Nb54knffUFHb1nUyrsYhE/s400/20180128_182918.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
This is one of those patterns I would put on my list of things I want to make and then never get to it for fear it would be too hard or take too long. I love the robe and found it wasn’t very hard at all. It took me about 4-5 hours of straight sewing so it wasn’t too long either.<br />

Lots of stress, changes, and adjustments. My sewing room is mostly unpacked now and I’m ready to get back into my sewing routine.<br />
<br />
I was very happy to shut the door on 2018; not a good year health wise- physically or mentally. <br />
<br />
Here is what I hope to sew up for my winter makes. I’m sure I’ll throw in some other things too. And I have lots of catch up posts to write for things already made and not blogged. <br />

I hope you had a great holiday!<br />

For some reason I always seem to make flannel pajamas during the heat of July. This time I decided to try the free pattern from <a href="https://5outof4.com/product/pajama-pants/" target="_blank">5 out of 4</a>. <br />

<br />
I scooped 1/2” out of the back butt curve for Miss K and I. I also added 1/2” to the front thigh for my pants. The pattern specifically states in the instructions: <br />
<br />
“This is a loose fit pattern based on hip size (measured at fullest<br />
point). Fit is a personal preference, but as a general rule I<br />
recommend women select the low rise and size down if you want<br />
a slimmer fit (they will still be roomy enough to be comfortable).”<br />
<br />

<br />
My waist is in the Small range and my Hips were in the Large. BUT I followed the instructions and sized down to a Medium. If you are a pear shaped woman with an ample bottom half I strongly suggest<strong> ignoring the instructions and sew the size your hip corresponds to</strong>. Mine turned out a bit snug across the butt/hip and I’m sad about that; because after sewing 4 pairs, I’m very tired of sewing these kind of pants. I’ll remake mine in a Med waist/Large hip sometime, just not soon. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jpt2S-jpHzU/W1C0UeOU1yI/AAAAAAAATXg/3p8BxtAd3Pwg6PFhnOUgLj043RR-MYwKwCHMYCw/s1600-h/IMG_8733%255B2%255D"></a><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qXNycPd6Ods/W1C0VpgNu6I/AAAAAAAATXo/CDxoSNcG_pUxvgW96eZPSTkzG0nGJEXtwCHMYCw/s1600-h/20180719_100144%255B2%255D"><img alt="20180719_100144" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XNXI8zKvwwQ/W1C0WVg3sQI/AAAAAAAATXs/Z1T_j-TzDzEaNrslDz6SGX3Tx-a_Js9sQCHMYCw/20180719_100144_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="20180719_100144" width="398" /></a><br />
<br />
The pockets on these pants are awesome. They have the perfect room and opening for a phone. The top gets caught in the sewing for the elastic waistband and so the pockets stay in front and don’t flop all over (I hate floppy pocket bags!). <br />
<br />

Thoughts from Miss K: they are good. Baggy in the crotch though (she likes super low rise pants). I managed to catch the elusive Miss K on camera in her pjs.<br />

Thoughts from Mr. T: good. (They fit him perfectly). <br />
<br />
Thoughts from Mr. Sunny: good. (They fit him great but he needs an extra inch in length next time and maybe a bit higher rise in front by an inch).<br />
<br />
My thoughts: as I explained above, mine are a tad snug in the hip area. I love the pockets. The crotch is slightly baggy in front but not annoyingly so. The back rise is sufficient to cover everything. I do wish mine were longer too, by about an inch. <br />

Mr. Sunny: 2 5/8 yard of 57” wide Deep Blue/Brown Plaid Flannel. Purchased from FashionFabricsClub in Jan 2015. $9.90 total. This is a thinner and less soft flannel but I’ve had it forever and just wanted to use it up. Yay for stash busting! One thing that I dislike about FFC is the misrepresentation of fabrics. This description was “This lightweight cotton fabric has a very soft, brushed surface.” No, not soft, barely brushed. Their fabrics are cheap but it’s always hit or miss with quality. <br />
<br />
Me: PRE-CUT 2 7/8 YARDS- Sky Blue/White 100% Cotton Polka Dot Cozy Cotton Flannel - Robert Kaufman – 43W from FabricMart for $4.80 total…. total!! You can’t beat that! Purchased Feb 2018. This fabric is so soft and awesome!<br />
<br />
Mr. T: 3 yards Snuggle Flannel Fabric 42” wide – “Skylar Blue Black Plaid;” purchased Nov 2017 for $2.69/yard. Cost $8.07 total. <br />
<br />
Miss K: 3 yards Snuggle Flannel Fabric 42" wide- “Little Pups In Sweaters;” purchased Nov 2017 for $2.69/yard (yay black Friday sale!). cost $8.07 total.<br />
<br />
The snuggle flannel from Joann's is soft and has cute prints. Time will tell how they hold up after many washings. The Robert Kaufman flannel is the best feeling out of what I used. It sews wonderfully and feels like it will last a long time. <br />

<br />

<br />
Thoughts: excellent top, awesome fit. I really loved putting this collar together. I have never sewn one that looked so good. I enjoy the forward shoulder seam too. My fabric is really soft but structured. It looks looser fit than if I had made the top in something clingier and drapey like challis<br />
<br />
Issues: The pocket. I feel like it is situated too high. Also, the armhole sits forward, showing straight into my bra. However, if it were tighter there I wouldn’t have as much ease of movement. <br />
<br />
I was a tester for this pattern and I think the top looks great, I love it; especially with my<a href="http://sunnysewing.blogspot.com/2017/03/burda-and-jalie.html" target="_blank"> Jalie Drop Pocket Cardigan as above. </a><br />

<br />
Thoughts: <br />
<ul>
<li>I love the design. </li>
<li>I love how the shaping is in the back. </li>
<li>It sews up super, super fast. </li>
<li>I feel like the pockets are too far back to be useful (on the pattern photo she is clearly pulling the cardi forward for her hands to be that far ahead).</li>
<li>I feel like the cardi needs a button on the front middle. </li>
</ul>
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hHycECcF7wI/WxwnbHw6TWI/AAAAAAAATLU/38uCsth41VcO-tLowOmT7CT763Z0J94lACHMYCw/s1600-h/helene3%255B2%255D"><img alt="helene3" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-n3bRnV8pmPk/WxwnbjXejRI/AAAAAAAATLY/b-tKX_X-qLIX5ZElN93L9EJmN5WNM4GIQCHMYCw/helene3_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="helene3" width="355" /></a><br />
<br />
I’m sure I’ll make this pattern again some time and when I do I will shift the pockets forward a bit and add a button. It’s a great pattern!<br />

Size: Bodice size 12, hip size 14. This is 1 size down in bust and almost 3 sizes down in hip. I read comments that the dress was large so I sized down and actually did a tissue fitting! <br />
<br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xQ1Q9UiE5Os/WxsEJsAyMGI/AAAAAAAATIw/4sclti5vOt890oy-f04Yaqd7hWn2GA8FwCHMYCw/s1600-h/redwrap2%255B2%255D"><img alt="redwrap2" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0ZT4FoW0Vdo/WxsEKOBQBpI/AAAAAAAATI0/v0cQHYk16r8Dg6bQg-Ut0X_0DCCUnk_owCHMYCw/redwrap2_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="redwrap2" width="337" /></a><br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TNR3UxbnAvY/WxsEKuLsDfI/AAAAAAAATI4/xaECkv8jzD0fzYZMjdIFBaYVDLpbnKTJQCHMYCw/s1600-h/redwrap3%255B2%255D"><br /></a>
Alterations: The tissue fitting showed me many areas to fix before cutting into my fabric. <br />
<ul>
<li>I took 1/2” tuck from neckline at the collarbone because of gaping there. </li>
<li>I graded the bottom of the sleeve from a 12 to a 14 to accommodate my larger biceps. </li>
<li>The sleeve cap had a whooping 2.5” of ease… in a knit!! My pet peeve. So I dropped the tall, narrow cap down about an inch – this gave me 1.25” in ease and also made it wider on top – this fits me much better at the shoulder than those tall sleeve caps. </li>
<li>1/2” swayback</li>
<li>1/2” forward shoulder adjustment</li>
<li>1/4” out of CB at neckline to 1/2” out at center back, then to 0” at bottom of bodice. The pattern has an outward curve in the mid back which was completely opposite of what I needed. This alteration straightened out the back and solved that issue. </li>
<li>I cut the ties at the size 20 since many people complained how short they were. </li>
<li>Skirt pieces 7 & 8 are the exact same so I just cut 2 of #7. </li>
<li>I cut two of the front R pieces (#1) and didn’t bother with the front L piece. </li>
</ul>
<br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TNR3UxbnAvY/WxsEKuLsDfI/AAAAAAAATI4/xaECkv8jzD0fzYZMjdIFBaYVDLpbnKTJQCHMYCw/s1600-h/redwrap3%255B2%255D"><img alt="redwrap3" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-f7zIkcjus9M/WxsELAb-YXI/AAAAAAAATI8/xEKuP1wRa1komWxxj-U1yweD1p6PZCqfwCHMYCw/redwrap3_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="redwrap3" width="359" /></a><br />
<br />
Instructions: The instructions were ok. They explained what I needed to do and I had no issues with them. I did sew my dress up a bit different in order – easier in my mind. Pleated fronts, sewed to back at shoulder. Added front binding, sewed in ties to back. Then sewed sleeves in flat, and sewed up sides. I sewed skirts together and then sewed skirt to bodice in the round. It went together fairly quickly.<br />

<br />
Fabric: Pattern calls for 2.5 yards fabric for my size. I somehow made this with only 1.5 yards. This fabric was from the Fabric Mart precut sale. I purchased it in Sept 2017 for $3.05 a yard; total $4.58 for this dress. It is listed as 92% Rayon/8% Lycra blend with 4 way stretch. The fabric is heavier than most rayon/lycra I own and so so soft. This fabric cut, sewed, and pressed like a dream. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wmgqmlL2wTM/WxsEMSRuR-I/AAAAAAAATJI/FJlXUhyYvGY22DZwJ3H1N5eBfV6MM0qbQCHMYCw/s1600-h/redwrap1%255B2%255D"><img alt="redwrap1" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U7VMn7cqXRg/WxsEM8pke4I/AAAAAAAATJM/yKdo6ZMEuY0jFlrz4hELKJl_9I6Ry5KCQCHMYCw/redwrap1_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="redwrap1" width="350" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: I really love this dress! I was hoping it would work out since the fabric is super soft. I love the color, the drape, the look. I do find that the dress grows a little during the day and that the heavier fabric doesn’t have as much recovery as I would like. But, those are minor things. If I make the dress again (I already have plans for the tank view) then I want to take another whole inch out of the center back at the neckline – it is still a bit wide in back. I would also shorten the front bindings and make the front cross over tighter – but this may just be the fabric’s problem with the growing/recovery issue. <br />
<br />

<br />
I think it’s a fantastic “fake” wrap dress pattern. I would recommend it to anyone!<br />

<li>1/2” forward shoulder adjustment</li>

<br />
Instructions: This is a simple T-shirt dress. I sewed it up without looking at the instructions. I sewed one shoulder, added neck binding, sewed other shoulder. Then I sewed in the sleeves and added binding to the bottoms of them. After this I just sewed up the side seams and hemmed it. It was super fast. <br />

<br />
Fabric: 1.75 yards - Bright Turquoise/White 100% Cotton, Plus Sign Design, Interlock Knit – 60W; purchased Sept 2017 for $5.60 total also from Fabric Mart’s precut sale. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EaNdYZKVh3Y/WxsESYyqtVI/AAAAAAAATJ4/UK5RZtBLA8QEHUfktgYLb5-7UVJUFISbACHMYCw/s1600-h/bluecross4%255B2%255D"><img alt="bluecross4" border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IR0avoUQZhU/WxsES-bF4wI/AAAAAAAATJ8/sBlUNGNB2aw2S0Lpq9ahnZfTNuoIHZiRACHMYCw/bluecross4_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="bluecross4" width="339" /></a><br />
<br />
Thoughts: I made this for a nightgown, I love it for that purpose. A few days in MeMadeMay I just wore the dress all day. It is soft and comfortable, easy to throw on and go. The interlock is thicker and less stretchy than most knits but it works well in this dress. I have no complaints!<br />

<br />
I was super lucky (and grateful) to be able to test some of their new patterns. I’ll be sharing them as soon as I can get good pictures of them all (it was cold and snowy during the testing so not a good time for pictures). <br />
<br />
First up is a really cute new T-shirt top. <br />

Instructions: Excellent. Jalie instructions have written steps as well as drawings for every step of the way. They are easy and clear to understand. You can also view them online before even purchasing the pattern. <br />

<br />
Thoughts: <br />
<ul>
<li>I really like this top. </li>
<li>It’s roomier than I usually wear my tee’s but that is ok</li>
<li>I love that it used only 1 yard of fabric</li>
<li>I think the cuffs are fun</li>
<li>The length is perfect, not too long and not short</li>
<li>My favorite part is the curved hem</li>
</ul>
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PJT08vE096Q/WxSQHlUWxGI/AAAAAAAATHs/IOLLnv2GJAIh0jq4Hir9L4wZPhFnvNO5gCHMYCw/s1600-h/blog%2Bgreen%2B6%255B2%255D"><img alt="blog green 6" border="0" height="427" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FPlqkfdiawc/WxSQIAZzeTI/AAAAAAAATHw/N0UQjudNg7E_tlF6yTZ8iCRzYC7wUN4rwCHMYCw/blog%2Bgreen%2B6_thumb?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto;" title="blog green 6" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I first attempted to make this in a drapey, heavy, rayon spandex knit and it was no good. The material hung and grew and the shirt ended up huge looking. I would say to definitely use the recommended fabric for this – one with a bit of structure or recovery; or I suggest to size down one if using a really drapey knit like rayon/spandex. This sweater knit was perfect for the top.<br />
<br />
I was actually disappointed I couldn't wear this for MeMadeMay but we had to keep quiet on the patterns.
